Vanessa is a 14 year old girl. She attends John Adams Middle School in the city of Santa Monica. Vanessa is a good student with a B average. At her early age she has experience a lot more than a usual kid at her age has (good and bad). She is a good daughter, sister, cousin, friend and auntie, she loves to play with her nephews. Vanessa is a very caring person in short description. Unfortunately last December 22, 2008 her doctor at Kaiser came to find that she had 17% Leukemia not that advanced. Her only way out is by getting a bone marrow transplant, very lucky and fortunate that our sister Yesica is compatible with her bone marrow. The only time prolonging was that Yesica the donor was expecting at the time. We needed to wait three months until we can proceed with the transplant. Vanessa is currently at 130% more advanced leukemia. Not the best news at the time. The bone marrow transplant had been scheduled for April 1st but unfortunately due to the high percentage she was unable to get the transplant. Vanessa is receiving chemotherapy and is doing very well. We are looking forward to her bone marrow transplant hopefully in the next month or sooner. All her therapy and transplant is being handled by Kaiser and City of Hope. As a family we thank Jeff and Brenda for making this financial hardship easier for us and for having great friends that support them even when they don't know us or Vanessa. We will always be grateful and mindful of your good hearts. Words cannot explain how much you guys as a team mean to us! We promise to keep everyone updated with her progress. Once again thank you and God bless all of you and your loved ones. Sincerely, The Cruz Family
